Generating a CPC for your children's product
Children's Product Certificate — what's required and how to generate it.
A Children's Product Certificate (CPC) is required by CPSIA for any product designed primarily for children 12 or under. The CPC certifies that your product has been tested by a CPSC-accepted laboratory and meets all applicable safety rules.
Required fields (7):
- Product description
- Citation of each applicable rule (e.g., ASTM F963, 16 CFR 1303)
- Manufacture date and location
- Test date and location
- CPSC-accepted lab name and address
- Importer / manufacturer name and address
- Contact for test record requests
The lab report you upload for CPSIA automatically satisfies testing requirements for Prop 65 and PFAS as well (if your product has those modules active). You upload the report once; every module that accepts lab reports sees it.
WARNING: Lab tests are valid for 12 months. Your CPC is only as current as your most recent test — set a renewal reminder.
